As Development Manager for OwΓ‘mniyomni OkhΓ³dayapi, a Dakota-led nonprofit, Duval supports acquisition, engagement, design, and construction of the 5 acre restoration at OwΓ‘mniyomni. The project restores Dakota presence and lifeways to a Dakota place of power. With Phase 1 under construction and Phase 2 ramping up, we continue to support planning for operations and maintenance consistent with OwΓ‘mniyomni OkhΓ³dayapiβs intention to care for the land and water as relatives (MitΓ‘kuye OyΓ‘sΚΌiΕ), in the spirit of AwΓ‘ΕyaΕkapi.
Redeveloping 20+ acres of formerly industrial waterfront in Two Harbors is a generational opportunity for the community. Duval is supporting this small but mighty town of 3,600 to plan, design, fund, and implement transformation of the challenging site into a vibrant destination that will draw visitors, strengthen the economy, and redefine the North Shore experience. Our role has included intergovernmental coordination, stakeholder engagement, Task Force facilitation, discovery, concept design, and implementation strategy, including successful major funding pursuits.
