Alex Duval, is the Founder and President of Duval Design and Duval Development. Together, the companies create design, development and policy solutions for public, private and nonprofit ventures that enhance the built environment. He has over eighteen years of experience working on culturally and geographically diverse projects in the United States, France, Italy, China, Korea and India. Prior to founding the companies, Duval was a Director with Portman Financial, a private investment office with assets under management of over $1.5 billion; a Director with Portman Holdings, a real estate company that has realized over 50 million square feet of built projects; and a Project Manager with John Portman & Associates leading the design and planning of complex projects in the US and abroad. Duval is a parishioner of the Basilica of Saint Mary, an Oblate of Saint John’s Abbey and lives with his family in Minneapolis.
Kjersti is the CEO of Duval Companies, related firms which provide development, design and policy solutions for public, private and nonprofit entities. She is co-owner of Duval, where she directs the Civic Studio. Kjersti served as Planning Director for the City of Minneapolis from 2013-2016, and prior to that, as Real Estate Strategy market sector leader for the U.S. Eastern region at AECOM, a global design and engineering firm. Kjersti is a frequent public speaker on urban issues, and specializes in complex urban projects and strategic initiatives. Her strong relationships with leaders in the public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors in Minneapolis give her unique implementation insights that cross scales and uncover synergies. She is married with two children and lives in the Loring Park neighborhood of Minneapolis.
